Math 8Today you will be solving Systems of Equations using Elimination. Remember the acronym from yesterday was SMASH. So, SMASH your math today! Watch the first video and take notes on page 21 of your packet. The second video will help you with your practice on page 23. Make sure that you work each problem out carefully and take your time. Check your answers below after you finish.
Algebra 1Today's assignment is in Deltamath titled "Alg-Parabolas 5/5". Below is a video that models a problem from each activity. Remember, each Deltamath assignment from this week will be average for one grade. There is a second video that would also be helpful to watch. Math 8This week you get to SMASH your math...that's right, SMASH your math. We will be solving Systems of Equations using a method called Elimination. The acronym that helps us remember the steps is SMASH. S - Standard form, M - Multiply, A - Add, S - Solve, H - substitute to find other Half of ordered pair. I will tell you more about this tomorrow, but for now watch today's videos and take some notes of your own. Tomorrow we will dive into our packet notes and practice. Algebra 1This week we will focus on graphing quadratic functions. Remember that their graph makes a parabola. You can also graph using different forms such as, intercept form and vertex form. Important points that we will look at this week are x-intercepts (also roots, zeros), the vertex (minimum, maximum), y-intercept (when x = 0), and other points on the parabola that make it symmetrical. I'll post a video with me working the problems that you will see in Deltamath each day, and also an extra video that may be helpful and informative. Today's assignment is Deltamath - "Alg-Parabolas 5/4" All the Deltamath assignments from this week will be averaged for one grade in Studentvue, just like last week. Math 8Watch the short video to review solving a system using substitution (you will see one like this in your assignment today). Login to Deltamath and do the assignment titled "Solve a System using Substitution". For best results, have a piece of paper beside you to work the problems on. Remember to use tomorrow to catch up on or redo assignments. You can redo any USATestprep assignment for a higher grade. Algebra 1Watch the short video to review the three ways to solve a quadratic equation (you will see method used in your assignment today). Login to Deltamath and do the assignment titled "Alg-Solve Quadratics 3 ways". For best results, have a piece of paper beside you to work the problems on. All 4 Deltamath assignments from this week will be average for one grade that will be entered in Studentvue/Parentvue, so make sure that you have done all 4 assignments on solving quadratics. Remember to use tomorrow to catch up on or redo assignments. You can redo any USATestprep assignment for a higher grade. Math 8Login to USATestprep and take a "Small Test". This will be a cumulative test over all the domains. It is only 13 questions, so take your time. Remember to retry missed questions or take a new test if you want to try for a higher grade. Algebra 1Watch the video on solving quadratic equations using completing the square. For some of you, this was your favorite method. The video is long, so I would make sure you at least watch examples 1 (rational), 2 (irrational), and 5 (which shows how to solve one that has a leading coefficient). After the video, complete the assignment on Deltamath titled "Alg-Solve quadratic equations using completing the square". Math 8Solve Systems using ISS - Isolate, Substitute, Solve. Watch the first video and take notes in your packet on page 17. The second video will help you practice the problems on page 20. Watch out for problem 10, the x's cancel out from both sides. When that happens, remember that true is infinite solution and false is no solution. Check your answers when you finish practicing the problems on page 20.
Algebra 1Today, I have two videos for you to watch on solving quadratics using the Quadratic Formula. The first video will show you examples when your answers are rational and the second video will show you what to do when your answers are irrational. Next, you have a Deltamath assignment titled - "Alg-Solving Quadratics using Quadratic Formula". Math 8This week you will continue to solve systems of equations. Last week you learned to solve using the substitution method by setting expressions equation to each other. You will continue to work on substitution this week but a little bit differently. This week we will use ISS - Isolate, Substitute, Solve. Today you have two videos to watch, (maybe even taking some of your own notes). Tomorrow, you will take notes with me in your packet. Algebra 1The next 2 weeks, you will work on quadratic equations, reviewing how to solve and graph them. Remember that their graph is called a parabola. Today, I have two videos to watch and then you have 8 problems on Deltamath titled, "Alg - Solving Quadratic Equations by Factoring". Each day this week you will have a Deltamath Assignment (I will enter one grade at the end of the week with all of them averaged together). Math 8Today you have an assessment on Usatestprep titled Solving Systems #1. It will show up under the assignments tab. It is 9 multiple choice questions on using graphing and substitution to solve a system of equations and 1 performance task question that is matching. Use your notes while working through the questions. I would recommend that you work them out on notebook paper. You can redo the assessment for a higher grade. Algebra 1Today you have an assessment on Usatestprep titled Linear Functions. It will show up under the assignments tab. It is 20 multiple choice questions and 1 performance task question that is matching. Use your notes while working through the questions. I would recommend that you work them out on notebook paper. You can redo the assessment for a higher grade.
Math 8Today you should complete the USATestprep domain on Expressions & Equations. Algebra 1Today you should complete the USATestprep "Small Test" assignment.
Math 8Solving System of Equations using Substitution (Set Equal Method). Follow along with the two videos on pgs 17 and 18 in your packet. On Pg 18, practice #'s 1,3,5,7,9,11,and 12. I will post the key for you to check your answers.
Algebra 1Warm Up 5 & 6 are posted below. Make sure to check yesterday's answers. After today, you can start working on the USATestprep Assignment for Linear Functions. Warm Up #5 Warm Up #6
Math 8Can you believe this is week 5? I encourage you all to keep working hard...watch the videos each week, copy down notes, practice problems, and complete your online assignment. You can do this! This week you will be learning how to Solving a System of Equations using Substitution. Remember, last week you solve a system using graphing. I have two videos for you to watch today. Also, if you need any help with your work please contact me through email or Remind so that I can help you:) Algebra 1Can you believe this is week 5? I encourage you all to keep working hard...watch the videos each week, copy down notes, practice problems, and complete your online assignment. You can do this! This week you will be finishing up your review on Linear Functions.
